The Student Career Compass – Yorkshire Special: 16^th October 2025

Over the past eight years, the Student Career Compass has grown into a national movement, connecting students from schools and universities with some of the UK’s most respected employers to help them make confident, informed career choices. This October marks a major milestone: for the first time, we’re taking the Student Career Compass event outside London, beginning with a special edition in Yorkshire, hosted in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University and The University of Sheffield.

This event will bring together a diverse mix of tech and non-tech organisations, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), BBC, CBRE, Deloitte, Kier Group, Microsoft, NatWest Group, RSM UK and Thrive Social Capital. Students will gain valuable insights into:

What it’s like to work at these organisations and their values
Career trajectories and opportunities available
The journeys of recent graduates and apprentices
What recruiters look for in candidates and how to make a strong application

We’re also running a series of Skills Development sessions, including:

What recruiters look for in a CV
How to prepare for and succeed in interviews
Live mock interviews on stage
How to start your own business and become an entrepreneur

Students attending in person will benefit from market stalls hosted by each organisation, offering informal one-to-one conversations with employer representatives. For online participants, a special session on entrepreneurship and how to start your own business will run during the market stall break.

There are two ways to participate: in person at Sheffield Hallam’s Pennine Lecture Theatre, or online via Zoom. Please register below and indicate your preferred method of attendance.
